Prince Harry gives up hunting for good as he sells shooting rifles

Prince Harry has suggested that he will be giving up hunting as it was reported that he has sold a pair of handmade rifles thought to be worth £50,000 (€57,000).

Harry’s hunting was always a question up for debate as it is well-known that his wife Meghan Markle is an outspoken animal lover and abhors the killing on animals.

According to the Sun, the Purdey guns were bought by a hunter a couple of months ago in a private deal before Harry and Meghan left the royal family and moved Stateside.

A friend of the anonymous buyer told the publication: ‘He bought them because he wanted them, not because they belonged to Harry, but he was quite chuffed when he found out.

‘They are beautiful examples and he’s very pleased with them but he’s not the sort of person who wants to boast about the royal connection.’

It is unsure if Prince Harry sold the guns because he just didn’t want them anymore or if he has decided to give up hunting for good.

Conservationist Dr Jane Goodall spoke about Harry and his brother William’s hunting on Radio Times recently sharing: ‘They hunt and shoot. But I think Harry will stop because Meghan doesn’t like hunting.’

There have been different reports over the years that Harry hasn’t been involved in certain hunting games such as the traditional Boxing Day hunt, but this was dismissed by palace sources as ‘completely untrue’.

However, the royal has made many other sacrifices by deciding to leave his senior royal position and move to California.

The Duke, who was in the army for many years and is therefore very au fait with guns and rifles, had to give up his army roles including Captain-General of the Royal Marines and Honorary Air Commandant of RAF Honington.
