Edward Majerczyk, 29, also was ordered to pay $5,700 (GBP4,500) to cover counselling services for one undisclosed celebrity victim, whose photos were leaked online. Majerczyk illegally accessed more than 300 email and other online accounts by posing as an Internet service provider and asking his victims to provide information about their usernames and passwords.
He pleaded guilty to one count of unauthorised access to a protected computer to obtain information last year (16). He was not charged or accused of selling or posting the material online. Majerczyk’s attorney Thomas Needham reveals the fallout from the hacking scandal has "deeply affected" his client, who has been visiting a therapist for anxiety.
