However, the “Pirates of the Caribbean” star was so in love with the actress that he ignored his close friends’ plea not to marry the actress.
In 2018, most reports about Johnny Depp were bad news. The actor had financial problems and parted ways from his longtime lawyer and agent. There were also claims that he couldn’t remember his lines when filming that they had to be fed to him though an earpiece.
On top of that was his controversial split from Heard who accused him of being violent and abusive. Depp’s friends reportedly disapproved of Heard in the first place.
“Depp’s inner circle had begged him to not wed Heard or to at least obtain a prenup. Depp ignored his loved ones’ advice,” Stephen Rodrick of Rolling Stone wrote.
Depp’s relationship with his sister Christi was badly damaged after he married the “Aquaman” actress without a prenup. “He cut himself off from the only people looking out for him,” a longtime associate of Depp said.
A few weeks back, an audio recording of Heard confessing that she hit Depp leaked. She also taunted her ex-husband to tell the world that he was the victim and see how many would believe him given that he is a man. Following the leakage, the netizens moved to campaign for justice for Depp.
Prior to that, Depp already said in a $50 million defamation case against Heard that he was the victim. He also vehemently denied all the abuse allegations against him because he never put a hand on her as well as to the other women in his life. Depp said that he would continue to deny all the domestic abuse allegations against him all his life.
“I never abused Ms. Heard or any other woman,” Depp said in the court document. “She was the perpetrator, and I was the victim.”
Depp’s exes including Winona Ryder, Vanessa Pradis and Lori Anne Allison all said that he never abused them. In fact, they described Depp as a “soft person.” Ryder said that Depp was “a really good, loving, caring guy who is very, very protective of the people that he loves.”
