Johnny Depp will still receive $14.5 million after quitting ‘Fantastic Beasts’: Rumor

Johnny Depp will, allegedly, receive $14.5 million even after he quit the Fantastic Beasts franchise.

According to New Zealand Woman’s Weekly, Johnny Depp managed to film one scene in the movie as Grindelwald before the director urged him to quit.

The franchise doesn’t want to work with Depp after Judge Justice Nicol called him a monster.

A source told the tabloid that Depp needs money right now because he has to pay his legal team. As such, receiving hefty pay for his role in Fantastic Beasts will be welcomed by the actor.

However, a source said that Depp will only receive around $10 million after filming one scene in the movie.

The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Depp has a pay or play contract, which means that he will still be paid regardless if a project pushes through or if it’s recast.

There is also a morality clause in the Pirates of the Caribbean star’s contract.

Speaking of the Disney movie, Depp was also fired from the franchise years ago after Heard accused him of physically, emotionally, and verbally abusing her throughout their marriage.

Meanwhile, Depp will come face to face with Heard in court in January after he filed a defamation case against the Aquaman star.

However, legal experts are convinced that there’s a huge possibility that Johnny Depp will also lose in the case because of what happened with his defamation case against The Sun.

But media lawyer Mark Stephens said that there’s a chance for Depp to win in his case against Heard.

“It’s going to be hard to overcome, but if he repents, there’s a path to a comeback,” he said.

In related news, Depp also said that he will be appealing his libel cause in the London court.

Depp’s lawyer, Jenny Afia, released a statement calling the judge’s decision perverse and bewildering.

“Most troubling is the judge’s reliance on the testimony of Amber Heard. And the corresponding disregard of the mountain of counter-evidence from police officers, medical practitioners, her own former assistant, other unchallenged witnesses, and an array of documentary evidence which completely undermined the allegations, point by point. All this was overlooked. The judgment is so flawed that it would be ridiculous for Mr. Johnny Depp not to appeal this decision,” she said.
