South Korean singer and actress Goo Hara passed away over the weekend. The 28-year-old K-pop star was found dead in her Seoul home, the police confirmed. For the unversed, Hara was best known as the former member of the K-Pop group Kara. She joined the band back in 2008. Apart from her collaboration with the band, Hara has also released solo music and released albums over the past few years. Hara also appeared in television shows like Secret Love, City Hunter and Hero.
Hara was discovered lifeless on Sunday evening at her Cheongdam home. It is to note that Cheongdam is one of the wealthiest neighbourhoods in Seoul. Yonhap news agency reported that the police are still investigating Hara’s cause of death and they were “keeping the possibility of suicide in consideration”.
The news of her death comes just a few months after an alleged suicide attempt. Hara was reportedly hospitalised in May following her alleged attempt. The international singer apologised to her fans for causing “concerns and a commotion” over the incident. Yonhap reports Hara attempted to commit suicide back in March as well after her ex-boyfriend threatened to release a sex tape. The ex, hairdresser Choi Jong-bum, threatened “to end her entertainment career” by releasing the video.
On the work front, Hara had released a new song titled Midnight Queen earlier this month. She had signed up with a talent agency in Japan before she released the song. The news of Hara’s death comes weeks after 25-year-old singer Sulli was found dead in her Seoul home. The police said it was an apparent suicide. Sulli and Goo were close friends, the local press reported.
