According to a piece by Vanity Fair, the duchess did not look “overjoyed” to see Meghan and Harry on their last royal outing. Instead, she is reported to have taken their decision to take a step back to heart, as she remembers the days before Meghan Markle was in the picture.
It use to be just her, Prince William and Prince Harry as a “happy trio” and now she is very sad by how everything has turned out.
A source told Vanity Fair royal editor Katie Nicholl said of their final royal appearance at Westminster Abbey: “Possibly [Kate] was tired but she didn’t look overjoyed,”
“To be honest I think Kate has taken it all badly. She Harry and William were once such a happy trio, she thinks what has happened is all very sad.”
They added: “It’s not been an easy few months for anybody,”
Another source spoke about how the next chapter is “bittersweet for Meghan and Harry.”
“Harry is looking straight ahead at his future with his family.”
“He’s not looking back,” the source added.
Kate and William are yet to speak on the seismic shift in the royal family and have been working since non-stop since their Christmas holiday break.
William spoke on the importance of confronting challenges in a recent statement.
He said “We just need to deal with them and we need to move forward rather than just be stuck in paralysis and pretend they don’t happen,”
William is also determined to not let Meghan and Harrys decision to quit the Royal Family overshadow the work the monarchy does.
He made a point that he and Kate would continue to visit as “many” places as possible.
The duke said:”[Were} going to see as many places in the U.K. we may not have been to very much, to try and understand some of the more complex challenges, some of the slightly more tucked away challenges, that people find hard to talk about.”
Meanwhile, Kate is working on her childhood development project, where she is undertaking a survey of the quality of life for young children under five.
“I had a tiny, tiny baby in the middle of Anglesey,” the mother of three recalled during a visit to a daycare centre in Cardiff, Wales.
“It was so isolated, so cut off. I didn’t have any family around. William was still working with search and rescue doing night shifts. If only I’d had a centre like this.”
“As a parent, I know how much we cherish the future health and happiness of our children.”
Kate also said. “I want to hear the key issues affecting families and communities so I can focus my work on where it is needed most. My ambition is to provide lasting change for generations to come.”
It comes as Prince William could have to step up in the next few months if his grandmother and father Prince Charles are forced to self-isolate.
Health minister Matt Hancock said last week that in the coming weeks those over the age of 70 could be forced to stay home in total isolation.
Both the Queen and Prince Charles are in the age bracket of those who are deemed most at risk of fatal coronavirus symptoms.
Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall have already announced that they have postponed their spring tour to the Republic of Cyprus and Jordan.
