Kate Middleton skips royal event with Prince William at the last minute ‘due to children’

It came as a surprise to many as the Duchess had attended the a tea party at Kensington Palace with Prince William earlier in the day.

Kate Middleton and Prince William have struck a great balance between their royal engagements and home life. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, who are doting parents to three children, make sure to maintain a normal life for their kids. Recently, Kate Middleton pulled out of an event alongside husband Prince William on Thursday evening. It came as a surprise to many as the Duchess had attended the a tea party at Kensington Palace with William earlier in the day.

According to a report in People, Palace sources revealed that Kate’s decision to not attend the Tusk Conservation Awards gala was “due to the children.” However, Prince William was still in attendance. While there was no further clarity given, Kate was present at a tea party with the winners during the day. The awards are run by the Tusk Trust, which William has been Royal Patron of since December 2005 and honours those who protect Africa’s wildlife.

“Earlier today, Catherine and I spent some time with the nominees and finalists. Their bravery, single-minded determination, and commitment to African conservation is deeply deeply humbling,” William said at the event. He also spoke in detail about climate change and a sustainable path that needs to be taken moving forward.

Just a few days ago, William and Kate were spotted for the annual Royal Variety Performance and made for a stunning couple. The royal parents left their children Prince George, 6, Princess Charlotte, 4, and 1-year-old Prince Louis back home at the palace and shared some details about them when they met with young performers.

Right now, young people the world over are ringing that planetary alarm bell louder and with more determination than ever before. My generation and those following are acutely aware that we cannot simply carry on as we are. We have to move faster and more effectively to find ways to balance our demands on this planet with the nature we share it with. Earlier today, Catherine and I spent some time with the #TuskAwards nominees and finalists. Their bravery, single-minded determination, and commitment to African conservation is deeply deeply humbling. Carlos, Tomas, Gladys, Jeneria, Benson and their colleagues are truly inspiring and give us all hope that change is truly possible. The Duke of Cambridge at the @Tusk_org Awards #ForAllTheyDo
