Middleton has even weathered a few scandals in her day, only to rise above them all unscathed. Still, even the most diehard royal fans probably couldn’t have guessed she would rank higher than Queen Elizabeth herself in a recent poll that asked fans to name their pick for the “coolest and most inspiring” women in public positions.
When Kate Middleton started dating Prince William in the early 2000s, not many people would have placed bets on the young couple lasting more than a few years. However, last they did, and in 2010, Prince William proposed to the beautiful brunette who had been with him through so much.
They got married in April 2011 and didn’t wait long to start a family. These days, Kate Middleton and Prince William are the proud parents of three young children. Kate Middleton’s role in the royal family is a vital.
Not only is she tasked with helping Prince William prepare for the role of monarch, but she has to shepherd her eldest son, Prince George, into the responsibilities that he will one day inherit. There’s no doubt that Middleton has a lot resting on her shoulders — but she manages to handle everything in a calm, measured manner, and always comes across as “fun” and charming.
She seems equally at home playing a ball game with her husband as she does walking a red carpet in a designer dress. Not only is Middleton liked by the public, but she is loved by Queen Elizabeth. The monarch has taken Middleton under her wing, and the two women have attended several events together over the years.
In many cases, the more visibility a public figure gets, the less popular they become. Even though Kate Middleton is one of the most recognized women in the world, she’s still beloved by the public, as evidenced by a recent poll.
In the poll, which was commissioned by Perspectus Global, Middleton was named the “coolest and most inspiring” out of a group of 25 famous women. The other women on the poll included such impressive figures as Michelle Obama, Adele, Billie Eilish, and Taylor Swift. In spite of their accomplishments, Middleton topped the list, with a whopping 23% of the votes.
Kate Middleton wasn’t the only royal woman to be listed on the poll. Meghan Markle and Queen Elizabeth also made the cut, with the queen ranking in third place, with 20% of the overall vote. Even Meghan Markle, who recently stepped down from her role as a senior member of the royal family, was represented, although she fell much further down the list, in 15th place.
It’s not surprising that Middleton ranks much higher than Markle. Meghan Markle was controversial to many even when she was a full-fledged member of the royal family, and her exit from the royal ranks earlier this year raised many eyebrows.
Although she remains an inspiring figure to many fans due to her strong work ethic, Markle will likely always be a divisive figure to the British public. Middleton, on the other hand, is a unifying force, and as the years have gone on, she only continues to grow in popularity.
