The Duchess of Cambridge is known for turning heads with her impeccable fashion sense, with her outfits often selling out in seconds. Now it seems to be her photography skills that is gaining interest worldwide.
Her fine camera skills seem to have even caught the attention of the Swedish Royal Family.
It seems that Princess Sofia of Sweden has taken a leaf out of the Duchess of Cambridge’s book in one of her latest birthday photoshoots.
Prince Carl Philip’s wife captured a beautiful photograph of her husband to celebrate his 41st birthday on Wednesday, and the princess’ efforts have been shared on Instagram.
The Swedish princess snapped some images of Carl Philip on the stairs of their family home at Djurgården in Stockholm, and even received a photo credit in the social media post.
The duchess has even launched a special photography project to help inspire Brits stuck in lockdown to channel their creativity and document this unusual time.
Kate, Duchess of Cambridge’s photography project, titled Hold Still: A Portrait of Our Nation, has been launched in collaboration with the National Portrait Gallery in London, of which the Duchess is a patron.
The project invites budding and established amateur photographers to document their lives during the coronavirus crisis.
Speaking to This Morning on Thursday, Kate said she set up the project to help reflect the “resilience, bravery and kindness” of the nation.
Kate said: “We’ve all been struck by some of the incredible images we’ve seen which have given us an insight into the experiences and stories of people across the country.
“Some desperately sad images showing the human tragedy of this pandemic and other uplifting pictures showing people coming together to support those more vulnerable.”
The Duchess added the Hold Still project “aims to capture a portrait of the nation, the spirit of the nation, what everyone is going through at this time”.
The National Portrait Gallery has set up a dedicated page on its website for the Hold Still project.
Submissions should be portraits, and encapsulate one of the three following themes: Helpers and Heroes, Your New Normal or Acts of Kindness.
Submissions should also be accompanied by a short written description.
Images will be assessed on the emotion and message they convey, as opposed to the actual photographic quality of the submission, meaning you don’t need any fancy kit to get involved.
Participants are also encouraged to share their photographs on social media using the hashtag “#HoldStill2020”.
