The REAL reason Kate Middleton wasn’t a bridesmaid at Meghan Markle’s wedding

MEGHAN MARKLE and Prince Harry yesterday celebrated their two year wedding anniversary, but many royal fans are still left wondering why Kate Middleton was not a bridesmaid on the occasion.

The wedding took place back on May 19, 2018, at Windsor Castle with a whole host of celebrities in attendance including Sir Elton John, Oprah Winfrey and George Clooney to name a few. Prince William served as Prince Harry’s best man on the day, but Kate was not involved in Meghan’s bridal party.

Rumours have long circulated that Kate and Meghan never had a great relationship during their time together in the UK.

However, the truth behind The Duchess of Cornwall not being asked to be a royal bride is due to royal protocol.

Royal expert Marlene Koenig told Town and Country: “Most royal brides do not have adult bridesmaids. It would be unusual for a royal bride to have a woman in her late 30s as a maid or matron of honour.”

Back in 2011 at the wedding of the Cambridges, the younger Middleton sister became one of the most famous bridesmaids in the world.

However, six years later Kate did not have that formal role on her sibling’s big day.

The duchess was seen helping Pippa with her train and leading page boys into the church but she did was not an official bridesmaid.

Insiders predicted that Kate wouldn’t upstage her sister on such a special occasion.

“It’s a tricky situation for Pippa. She would want her sister by her side, as who else would she trust to make things go well? But if your sister is a future queen, she is going to draw attention,” royals editor Judy Wade told People.

Prince George and Princess Charlotte were both involved in Meghan Markle’s wedding.

At the fitting of Princess Charlotte ’s bridesmaid dress, there are reports that Meghan made Kate Middleton cry.

The Duchess of Sussex is understood to have insisted on “the very best” for her big day — but the fitting did not go according to her demands.

Royal sources said the pressure of the “stressful” fitting became too much for her now sister-in-law, and that Kate was left shaken and in tears.

An insider told the Daily Telegraph: “Kate had only just given birth to her third child, Prince Louis, and was feeling quite emotional.”

The reported incident sparked rumours of a rift between Kate and the Duchess of Sussex.

Which is alleged to have continued until Meghan departed to America alongside Prince Harry.

According to a piece by Vanity Fair, the duchess did not look “overjoyed” to see Meghan and Harry on their last royal outing.

Instead, she is reported to have taken their decision to take a step back to heart, as she remembers the days before Meghan Markle was in the picture.

It use to be just her, Prince William and Prince Harry as a “happy trio”, and now she is very sad by how everything has turned out.

A source told Vanity Fair royal editor Katie Nicholl of their final royal appearance at Westminster Abbey: “Possibly [Kate] was tired but she didn’t look overjoyed,”

“To be honest I think Kate has taken it all badly. She Harry and William were once such a happy trio, she thinks what has happened is all very sad.”

They added: “It’s not been an easy few months for anybody,”
