Holey Chanel leggings, sheer trousers and a LOT of cleavage: The highs and lows of Kim Kardashian’s Paris fashion week. Her younger sister may have been a catwalk star at Paris fashion week but it’s Kim rather than Kendall who has been stealing the spotlight. The 33-year-old socialite has used her week in the stylish French capital to showcase her AW14 wardrobe – with varying degrees of success. The star, who has been flying the flag for fashion’s biggest names, went out with a bang today as she arrived at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport to catch a flight back to Los Angeles bravely rocking a holey Chanel two-piece.
The co-ordinated ensemble, which was first seen on Cara Delevingne on the Chanel AW14 runway, is a style statement – that’s for sure. Kudos to Kim for attempting to pull off a matchy matchy outfit, which is a major story this season, but she didn’t quite manage to do it a la Cara.
The joggers and cropped top were styled with trainers on the catwalk, but Kim has, of course, upped the glamour with a pair of heels and accessorised the look with a cute North West. She shot a hint at her unusually hidden cleavage through the pastel garment but kept her shapely behind covered under her grey woollen coat until she reached a waiting car. Her two-piece was piled high on her neck like a neck brace but also high on her waist to create unfortunate emphasis on her crotch. Last night, Kim went for an altogether different look and braved the elements when she headed out wearing an extremely low-cut black bodice top at the CR Fashion Book Issue N.5 Launch Part.
Teaming the sexy number with an androgynous black trouser suit, the 33-year-old wore a giant embellished brooch on her jacket, although all eyes were on those famous curves, as always. She gave herself a couple of extra inches with a pair of peep-toe strappy sandals, which had a gold metal heel – very fitting with the current hardware trend that’s having a moment. Stepping out in Paris on the day of the Chanel show, Kim ensured that she didn’t slip into her half-sister’s shadow and continued her stylish Parisian pursuits in yet another sheer outfit.
She wore a pair of edgy transparent trousers, a black jumper and tailored overcoat. From the oversized yellow wrap, to the teddy bear blanket to the camel military, Kim championed pretty much every maxi coat MaxMara had to offer last year. And it seems that Kim is staying true to the trend this autumn too. The reality television starlet wore her Celine wool and pearl button coat from the luxury label’s AW13 collection. With sheer trousers, she needed something to keep out the cold after all!
On Monday, looking ready to do battle in her outfit du jour, Kim appeared to be channelling a modern day Xena Warrior Princess as she met stylist Rachel Zoe at lunch. The reality star also headed to the Balmain showroom in Paris, wearing a studded leather fringed skirt by Roberto Cavalli with matching lace-up gladiator sandal heels and a long velvet coat. Showing a hint of cleavage through a translucent shirt, Kim’s chic outfit scored major fashion points this Paris Fashion Week.
Perhaps the most daring look of the week came courtesy of her outfit at the Givenchy show. Arriving at good friend Riccardo Tisci’s show in Paris on Sunday evening to support her younger sister, the curvaceous wife of Kanye West looked sexy, yet classy, in a sheer black jumpsuit. The plunging leotard-style bodice, which revealed her ample assets beautifully, flowed into wide see-through trouser legs of embellished lace. A more successful few outfits came courtesy of a little known designer that Kanye discovered. She has millions in the bank, the world’s most coveted designers on speed dial and brands practically throwing free clothes at her.
But Kim quietly championed a lesser-known brand during her time in Paris and thanks to the reality TV star’s seal of approval, it looks set to become the next big thing. The style icon stepped out in designer label A.W.A.K.E. twice in four days. So who’s behind this little-known label and how did fashion’s finest discover it? In a word: Kanye. The brand, which is actually run by Russian designer and Harper’s Bazaar former fashion director, Natalia Alaverdian, was discovered online by Kim’s husband, Mr West.
‘He researches everything and he loves to find new talent, and he introduced me to her and told me she’s part Armenian, and so am I,’ Kim told WWD. ‘I’m all about empowering other women to be successful and it’s really important to me to support designers that I believe in and friends that I believe in that are hardworking.’ However, now that Kim has been spotted wearing not one, but two of the structured designs – and even co-hosted a party on the designer’s behalf – it looks set to become a household name. Something that Paris Fashion Week has taught us is that if there’s one way that Kim Kardashian can command an audience, it’s with her enviable curves. The brunette was leaving nothing to the imagination on Thursday night when she stepped out in Paris with beau Kanye looking topless under an open tuxedo jacket.
