Just eight weeks before her death, Princess Diana auctioned 79 of her most elegant and famous dress to raise money for charity.
Fourteen of those legendary dresses were bought by a Florida businesswoman Maureen Rorech Dunkel, who paid $670,000 for them. She wanted to keep the dresses as a source of inspiration and elegance for young girls and keep the sweet memory of princess alive.
However, Maureen has put those iconic dresses on auction again to pay her massive debts, estimated at more than $2.5 million. Most of the dresses are designed by British fashion designers including, Catherine Walker, Bruce Oldfield, Victor Edelstein, Zandra Rhodes White and Jacob Schaepfer.
While talking about the collection Dunkel said, "Selling the collection is a poignant and personal event to me, My only hope is that the new owners of the dresses, whoever they may be, enjoy them as I have and in some way use them to assist those in need. After all, that is the reason Princess Diana put them up for sale to begin with."
