After the success of the inaugural London Collections: Men event back in June, the British Fashion Council has confirmed dates for London’s second menswear showcase, while Tom Ford has revealed he’s taking his menswear to the British capital. The BFC announced in a release July 31 that London Collections: Men, Britain’s answer to the Paris and Milan menswear fashion weeks, will be back next year January 7-9.
"The inaugural men’s week was far more successful than any of us anticipated, and we have been overwhelmed by the support and enthusiasm for the project from designers, retailers, buyers and the press," explained Dylan Jones, chair of London Collections: Men. "LC: M has already contributed to the changing perception of menswear in this country, and our plans for the next week in January, and beyond, will hopefully build on this."
And it looks as though London is already attracting some of the biggest names in menswear, with The Telegraph reporting that Tom Ford will show his menswear collection in London for the first time in January — presenting his Fall/Winter 2013 range as part of the London Collections: Men schedule.
"I am very pleased to be showing my menswear collection in London next January. London has a vibrancy that is inspiring and much of what I create for men takes its inspiration from traditional British menswear," Ford told the publication. "My clothes are designed with an international customer in mind, and London is one of the most international cities on the planet."
