Marc Jacobs taps an all-star cast to front his final campaign for the French fashion house. Legendary photographer Steven Meisel photographed a series of powerful portraits of models, actors and personalities – all friends and muses to Jacobs – for the spring 2014 ad campaign.
star Sofia Coppola, French actress Catherine Deneuve, supermodel Gisele Bündchen and Chinese actress (and regular red carpet standout) Fan Bingbing are some of the most recognisable faces amongst the celebrity cast. French model Caroline de Maigret and British model Edie Campbell, who opened Jacob’s critically acclaimed final show for the house and was named Model of the Year at the British Fashion Awards this year, are also featured.
The series of portraits shows each muse clutching a covetable bucket-shaped NN14 bag (a smaller, streamlined update of the iconic Noé bag) in a style pertaining to their personality; Deneuve’s features an extravagant tuft of feathers, while Coppola’s is minimal, clean and classic. “It was a very emotional shoot, and I find this shows in the images,” Louis Vuitton’s communications and events director Frédéric Winckler told WWD.
“It’s really celebrating women who inspire Marc.”
