However, for baby number two, Meghan and Harry are apparently doing things a little differently. Meghan is keeping things a little more low-key when it comes to her second pregnancy.
According to the US Weekly, her decision not to have a baby shower this time around is reportedly about focusing her and Prince Harry’s resources on “humanitarian issues,” however, it is also believed that the Duchess is taking a step back to avoid any criticism after her first baby shower caused chaos in the United Kingdom (UK) media.
US Weekly reports that not surprisingly, given the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, Meghan has opted not to have a big baby shower for baby #2 so spending thousands or even millions on her baby shower didn’t seem like it’s the right thing to do.
“She’s very aware of how hosting a large-scale bash would be received during the middle of a pandemic and she doesn’t want to play into the false narrative that she’s insensitive or hypocritical,” the source said.
A small, private celebration with a few family members and friends might have been appropriate, but it looks like they want to avoid any scrutiny as Meghan possibly believes it would feed the UK press more ammunition to continue their bullying ways.
“Meghan doesn’t feel a big celebration with gifts is appropriate right now. She knows she’s already under scrutiny,” the source said.
Meghan referenced her daughter in her Vax Live speech about COVID vaccine and gender equity. “My husband and I are thrilled to soon be welcoming a daughter,” she said toward the end of her remarks.
“It’s a feeling of joy we share with millions of other families around the world. When we think of her, we think of all the other families around the globe who must be given the ability and support to lead us forward. Their future leadership depends on the decisions we make and the actions we take now to set them up and to set all of us up for a successful, equitable, and compassionate tomorrow.”
“Women, and especially women of colour, have seen a generation of economic gain wiped out. Since the pandemic began, nearly 5.5million women have lost work in the US, and 47million more women around the world are expected to slip into extreme poverty.”
