The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will lose relevance “in ten years” when Prince William and Kate Middleton’s son, Prince George, starts having a dating life, US Weekly’s American hosts have claimed.
According to Molly Mulshine and Christina Garibaldi, Harry and Meghan will stop being in the limelight in just a few years.
Ms Mulshine said the couple may one day “no longer be the IT couple of the moment” and could want “a quieter life” within the Royal Family.
She said: “I think there will come a day when Meghan and Harry are no longer the It couple of the moment.
“Maybe they will want a little bit of a quieter life back within the royal fold.
“You just never know, so I think that might be why they want to keep that door open.”
Ms Garibaldi echoed similar claims, adding that royal fans may not “even know their names anymore” in “another ten years.”
She added: “Give it another ten years, and when Prince George starts dating. We won’t even know their names anymore.”
The remarks come after the couple were warned the Queen could “banish” them if they continued to break protocol.
A royal commentator told Express.co.uk Harry and Meghan had been testing the limits of the agreement they reached in order to leave the Firm.
The couple have been vocal about their political beliefs in several public appearances since quitting royal life, something that does not align with the political neutrality principle the monarchy holds to.
However, royal commentator Howard Hodgson told Express.co.uk there are concerns the Sussexes may use US President’s Donald Trump’s impeachment to make a political statement, which would carry serious consequences for them.
Mr Hodgson said: “Trump’s actions were irresponsible and despicable.
“That said, it is quite impossible for a member of the Royal Family to comment on political matters either here or in another country.”
According to some reports, the Palace had already been angered by the couple’s involvement in the US election by calling on citizens to vote.
But according to the royal expert, further political comments from the Duchess could force the Queen to take a drastic decision.
Mr Hodgson said: “Therefore, if [Meghan] does start a political career or even make political comments about yesterday or anything else, she will leave the Queen with no choice but to banish Harry and her from the family to an even greater extent than the Duke of Windsor was subjected to.
“If she really loved Harry in the same way that he apparently does her, then she should surely take this into account. However, I fear that she won’t.”
The couple is currently set to return to the UK to have their Megxit terms reviewed by Her Majesty in a meeting that will define their future with the Royal Family.
Royal expert Russell Myers said the Monarch will want to “clip the wings” of the Sussexes although they would not be banned from returning to the UK for major royal events.
Mr Myers considered the possibility Harry will be allowed to attend royal milestones due to his importance, both within the Firm and as an independent entity following Megxit.
He told Nine Honey: “I don’t think they will ban him from coming back. Harry is a very popular member of the family however they do want to clip their wings a little bit. They have launched this juggernaut persona, they’re very, very popular in the States.”
