However, English star Laurence Fox believes this was not the only reason the Duke and Duchess of Sussex left the country. Apparently, the celebrity thinks that the former “Suits” star turned her back on being a senior royal because she didn’t get enough attention in Prince Harry’s home country. Fox also insisted that this observation is “held by a sizeable proportion of the population.”
Writing to The Spectator, Fox asserted that he knew this as a fact because he has been spending years surrounded by different actors. This is the reason why he noticed that a “fairly common trait is an enormous ego and the desire to be the center of attention.” With all these in mind, he finally came to the conclusion that Markle really had another reason to leave the post.
“I wondered whether her departure might have had something to do with her being denied the limelight she craved,” Fox added. This wasn’t the first time the “Inspector Lewis” actor had made outrageous comments about Markle. Earlier this year, his appearance on “Question Time” made waves due to his remarks about white privilege and the Duchess of Sussex’s experience on racism, Metro reported.
At the time, Fox said he believes that it is racist if he is called a “white privileged male.” He also didn’t feel that Markle is a subject of abuse because of the color of her skin. Also, this TV guest appearance was where he first said that the former Hollywood star is seeking more sufficient attention outside the country.
Lecturer Rachel Boyle pointed out at the time that Markle, as a black woman, had been targeted by the press and the public, which the expert said was downright racism. However, Fox was quick to denounce that statement.
“It’s so easy to throw the card of racism at everybody and it’s really starting to get boring now,” Fox said.Fox’s arguments sparked backlash, so much so that he allegedly received death threats. He is also aware that because of his comments on Markle and Prince Harry’s departure, which has been dubbed Megxit, he may not be getting acting jobs anymore.
