The media services provider, which also signed the former U.S. First Lady Michelle Obama, now hopes to have a similar successful lifestyle show with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
A seven-figure deal for the Sussexes
According to Mirror Online, different media firms had been clamoring to hire the Sussexes for future projects since they stepped down as senior royals.
Now, sources revealed Spotify was about to make a “seven-figure” offer to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
“Of course, money is no object,” the insider said. “Meghan Markle will be more or less able to name her price for exclusively working with them on a podcast series.”
The tipster continued the couple had been on the company’s hit list for a while. A detailed proposal was also set to be presented to the former actress’s U.S. agent in “a matter of weeks.”
Aside from Obama, Spotify also hired the reality star Kim Kardashian in June.
Prince Harry, Meghan Markle not a stranger to the world of podcast
Allegedly, Prince Harry and Meghan were trying to gain a foothold in Hollywood since they moved in Los Angeles in March in a bid to be financially independent.
As part of their movement’s consequences is the removal of Sussex Royal as their brand name. They already had experiences in podcasts and radio appearances, so they were not new to this field.
They had visited Reprezent 107.3 FM in Brixton. Prince Harry also guest-edited BBC Radio 4’s Today show.
Recently, his new Netflix documentary, Rising Phoenix, hit the small screens. Meghan, alternatively, had a talk with Gloria Steinem online, hosted by Makers Women.
Prince Harry, Meghan’s top-secret project
The news about the Spotify deal came after rumors emerged Prince Harry and Meghan were “quietly shopping” a top-secret project to network executives.
Sources told Variety Archie’s parents were pitching their idea to different media companies since June. At the time, they were busy buying their sprawling mansion in Santa Barbara.
Details about Prince Harry and Meghan’s project remained under lock and key. It had yet to be revealed if it would be a TV series, a movie, or a documentary. Its concept and format were also still a secret.
Anyhow, a source, who had some knowledge of the project, claimed Prince Harry and Meghan Markle intended to be their pitch’s joint producers.
