Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry, and Meghan Markle have the one thing that Duke and Duchess of Cambridge Prince William and Kate Middleton do not let them win this popularity battle.
As per Republic CEO Graham Smith, Harry and Meghan are supported by Hollywood and U.D celebrities so they are popular than William and Kate on social media. Smith is the head of an organization that has, for over two decades, campaigned to abolish the monarchy. The couple is also more willing to speak their mind and articulate controversial issues since they know they are not going to be like William and Kate.
Harry and Meghan showed up in a Hollywood event, Vax Live, to appeal for vaccine donations. Harry received a standing ovation after he made a speech on the stage.
Royal commentator Duncan Larcombe said that William has to be invited to high-profile global events like this to “raise his status above celebrities.” However, the royal expert said that most of these groups would rather ask Harry than William.
Larcombe said Harry and Meghan are setting a standard that modern royalty could survive in the social media age by embracing the “cult of the celebrity.”
The royal experts say that royal work is not about the profiles or personalities. However, Larcombe suggested that this is an outdated notion.
On the contrary, William and Kate are selling themselves as a couple by launching their YouTube Channel. He believes that this is their “deliberate charm offensive” to win with public perception as the king and queen in the future.
Although, Harry and Meghan’s TV ratings as Vax Live were less than two million viewers and Saturday Night Live with guest host Elon Musk even beat the Sussex couple in the rating game.
