Meghan Markle and Prince Harry proceeded on a six-week long break after wrapping up their royal engagements towards the end of November. The couple, who opened up about the intense media scrutiny they have faced in the past, did not reveal details about their break but the Buckingham Palace had informed last month that they will not be spending Christmas with Queen Elizabeth i Sandringham. Now, a latest report confirms that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are currently in the US with Meghan’s mum Doria Ragland.
As per royal reporter Omid Scobie’s The HeirPod podcast, he confirmed that Harry, Meghan and their son Archie are in the US. “The Sussexes are away. They are on their break right up until Christmas…they celebrated Thanksgiving privately with close family, which is lovely.”
He added that the US trip is a ‘long trip’. While the Palace had announced about the break, they had not revealed details citing that this wasn’t an official trip. He added, “It’s a long time trip that they’re on, I think. You’re really going to see them away until Christmas as far as I’m aware, which is good for them.”
Last month, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s spokesperson confirmed in a statement that Meghan and Harry’s decision to spend Christmas in the US had received an approval from Queen Elizabeth. The statement read, “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are looking forward to extended family time towards the end of this month. Having spent the last two Christmases at Sandringham, Their Royal Highnesses will spend the holiday this year, as a new family, with the Duchess’ mother Doria Ragland. This decision is in line with precedent set previously by other members of the Royal Family, and has the support of Her Majesty The Queen.”
