Meghan Markle and Prince Harry decided to step back from their royal duties last year. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex did not just let go of their duties; they also moved to the United States. However, the public might not be very welcoming to the former actress if she returns to the U.K, Dan Wootton claims.
Meghan Markle allegedly sparks genuine concerns
Wootton penned an article about the members of the royal family for Daily Mail. According to him, Prince Harry and Prince William will be forced into a positive dialogue while they prepare for their upcoming reunion. They will be reuniting again for the unveiling of their mom Princess Diana’s statue in July to commemorate her 60th birthday.
However, it is unclear if Meghan Markle, who is heavily pregnant, will be there. The duchess skipped Prince Philip’s funeral a few weeks ago because she was advised against traveling.
But aside from safety concerns, there are genuine concerns that the duchess could be booed at a public event in the U.K, Wootton wrote. Markle and Prince Harry have become unpopular in the country after they stepped down from their royal duties. Their public approval went worse after their bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey.
Biggest strain between royals
Several insiders claimed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s sit-down interview with Winfrey put them at odds with the royal family. However, the biggest strain was between Prince William and Markle.
The Duke of Cambridge was reportedly unhappy with the way Markle treated his wife. The source said Prince William felt Middleton tried at the beginning to get close to Markle and teach her the ins and outs in the Firm, but the Duchess of Cambridge’s efforts didn’t work.
“Kate attempted to try and help Meghan understand the responsibilities of royal life, but her efforts were constantly misinterpreted,” the insider said.
Prince William was all the more upset that Markle mentioned Middleton in the interview. The Duchess of Sussex denied the rumors that she made Middleton cry and said, “the reverse happened.” Markle said it was Middleton who made her cry, but the Duchess of Cambridge already apologized, and she accepted it.
The future king wasn’t happy because Markle is fully aware that this wife won’t fight back. The future queen consort is deeply sensitive, but she never speaks to the press. Middleton would rather stay behind the scenes to support the royal family and the monarchy. And her husband felt that she has been treated unfairly.
