The talks about Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s bombshell interview continue to develop these past few days. After exposing their experiences as working royals, many individuals have a lot to say about the Sussex couple and the British Royal Family.
CNN reported that one of these people is the former U.S. First Lady, Michelle Obama. In one of her latest interviews, she shared her thoughts about the controversial interview.
The accusations did not come as a surprise to Michelle Obama
Speaking to NBC’s Today show with Jenna Bush Hager, Michelle Obama gave her opinions about the tell-all interview. This came after the host asked her thoughts about the matter, especially on the race comments allegedly made by a member of the Royal Family.
The former First Lady said that “race is not a new construct” today, particularly for people of color. Accordingly, it did not surprise her that Meghan Markle shared her feelings and “articulated” them before the public.
Obama noted, however, what her hopes are for the British Royals. She explained that what she thinks the most about the entire controversy is that they are a family, “first and foremost.”
The former First Lady continued that she prays for “forgiveness and healing” for all the members. She also said that this might hopefully become a useful “teachable moment” for them, as well as the public.
What Meghan Markle and Prince Harry said
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s interview with Oprah Winfrey aired on March 7 on CBS. The Sussex couple dropped a lot of bombshell accusations about the British Royals, shocking the public, as well as many royal experts and commentators.
The couple alleged that someone from the family made “racist comments” about their future children. They said that a member asked them about how dark the color of their baby would be.
The Duke of Sussex reportedly “felt bad” after
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex did not identify which member of the British Royal Family asked them the alleged question. But, the public has since suspected that it was a high-ranking royal, with some of them even naming Prince Philip.
Amid the continued debacle, the Daily Express released a report claiming that Prince Harry “felt bad” after the interview. Royal commentator Mike Graham stated that this became apparent when the Duke of Sussex “went to Oprah afterwards” to clarify their statements. He insisted that Prince Harry placed emphasis on how he and Meghan Markle were not referring to the Queen nor Prince Philip.
