The Duchess of Sussex is well-known for her love for dogs. Markle has two dogs before she moved to the U.K – a labrador-shepherd named Bogart and a beagle named Guy. She recently reunited with the latter, but she allegedly has no plans to take Bogart back to her home due to a surprising reason involving Prince Harry, according to Dan Wootton, executive editor of The Sun.
“A close associate revealed Meghan has decided that, for the sake of family harmony, Labrador-German shepherd cross Bogart is in the doghouse,” Wootton wrote.
According to Wootton’s source, Markle adored the rescue dog, but she would not be taking him back due to his relationship with Prince Harry. Bogart allegedly doesn’t like the duke. “Bogart never took to Harry when they spent time together in Canada,” Wootton’s associate told him.
“He didn’t like Harry. Meghan was very vocal about the fact it wouldn’t be fair to take him back full-time, given Bogart’s feelings for her husband. Of course, her staff in the UK who knew about her decision found her statement quite strange, but they accepted it at face value because Meghan knows her dogs.”
According to sources, before Markle met Prince Harry, she treated Bogart and Guy like her babies. In a previous interview with Reader’s Digest Best Health Mag, Markle spoke fondly of Bogart.
“Well Bogart is possibly a Lab/Shepherd mix. I’m not entirely sure. When I got him… it’s a funny story,” Markle recalled.
“He’s my first dog ever. I didn’t grow up with dogs. I was in LA and I went to this dog rescue [shelter] and they had gotten him and his brother.”
During the visit, Markle came across Ellen DeGeneres who also paying a visit the place. The host asked her if Bogart was her dog and Markle said no. DeGeneres then urged her to take the rescue dog home.
