Meghan told those closest to her that had it been Kate that was constantly criticised by the UK press, the royal family would’ve taken measures against tabloids sooner.
The Duchess of Sussex claimed to her friends that they would have changed their media policies immediately as she was favoured by them.
‘[Meghan said] no one would have put up with it, and the broken and outdated system would have been revised. Those outlets responsible for their vicious attacks would have been shut out,’ an insider told The Daily Mail.
Meghan went on to explain to her friends that had the same things been said about Kate in the media as they were about her, ‘changes would have been made.’
‘If Kate was being criticised no one would put up with it,’ the friend added. ‘Meghan said Harry needed to take a stand for her, their son and his mother.’
Meghan went on to tell them how the palace would’ve attacked the media had the same coverage been targeted at Kate.
The insider explained that the one thing that irritated the Duchess the most was if the press ‘constantly criticised and needlessly bashed Kate the way they did her, changes within the royal’s media policy would have been made. No questions asked.’
Meghan added that the royal family made it seem like that was just the way it was and as Harry had to put up with it for so long, they weren’t ready to let it consume their lives any longer.
Meghan and Harry announced that they would be stepping down as senior royals in January of this year, to become financially independent and move across the pond to North America.
