Melania Trump, 50, is a former model who is married to the 45th US President Donald Trump, 73. Over the last few years, she has taken on the role of the US First Lady. A body language expert revealed why she may not have “embraced” the position immediately.
When she first started dating Donald, Melania was working as a model in New York.
Donald was known by many as a businessman and television personality.
The couple tied the knot in a lavish ceremony with a reception held at Donald’s Mar-A-Lago estate in 2005.
Since then they have had one child together, Barron Trump, who is now 14-years-old.
While she was no stranger to having all eyes on her, Melania’s role in the public eye changed when Donald was elected.
As the First Lady, Melania’s official role is to be the host of the White House.
First Ladies in the past have hosted events at the Washington residence, including state dinners and holiday celebrations.
They have also backed campaigns important to them which is something she has also done.
Melania has supported the Be Best initiative, which focuses on the wellbeing of children.
For this, she has regularly held events and leant her voice to important causes.
However, body language expert Darren Stanton suggested she did not initially take to the First Lady role.
He told Express.co.uk: “It was clear from the outset, this was not going to be a role Melania was going to embrace.
“Over her time in the White House, I have seen Melania openly demonstrate signs of disdain and contempt at times.”
While she may have been unsure at the beginning, the mother-of-one has since relaxed into the role.
The expert claimed she has shown signs of being genuinely happy as the years have gone on.
He added: “Melania is not one that can hide her fake smiles well.
“You can always tell a fake smile because only half the face is engaged and regardless of age you will always see crows feet at the sides of the face.
“Recent photos capture genuine happiness and Melania is clearly happy.”
The First Lady may have become more comfortable in her position as time has gone on.
