Naomi Watts Just Won the 2015 Cannes Film Festival Red Carpet in Elie Saab on Opening Night, Poses in Adorable Glam Pic

She’s in Cannes to promote her latest film, but as Naomi Watts sashayed across the Croisette it was her bold feathered evening gown that dominated on Wednesday evening.

The Australian actress looked stunning as she took her first steps on the red carpet the 68th annual Cannes Film Festival opening ceremony, which kicked off with the premiere of forthcoming French drama Standing Tall.

Naomi, whose new movie Sea Of Trees features in competition at this year’s event, opted for a plunging dress from designer Elie Saab’s spring couture 2015 runway collection. The intricately crafted gown caught the eye courtesy of its ethereal embellishments as she swept past onlookers en route to the French coastal town’s Grand Theatre Lumiere, Palais des Festivals.

However, it was the full feather-covered skirt – with added pockets for nonchalance – that really added to the drama of the Australian actress’ incredible red carpet look. As she turned to all angles to face the hundreds of photographers on the prestigious red carpet, the star revealed her dress to be backless.

Her blonde locks were slicked back off her face in a flattering quiff, and her beauty look was as fresh-faced and natural as could be while accentuating her delicate features. And, although they were barely visible, she added height to her frame with a pair of Nicholas Kirkwood Maeva sandals in silver.

Naomi was previously seen looking relaxed as she touched down at Nice airport with her two young sons on Tuesday.

The 46-year-old actress dressed down for her flight from Los Angeles, with the star keeping a tight hold of her sons Alexander, seven, and Samuel, six, as they made their way through arrivals.

Naomi’s latest film Sea Of Trees is competing for the coveted Palme d’Or top prize at the 68th annual festival. The film from Gus Van Sant also stars Matthew McConaughey and Ken Watanabe with the tale of survival shot in Massachusetts and Japan.

The big screen drama tells the tale of a depressed man (McConaughey), who is making his way through the notorious Suicide Forest, where he heartbreakingly plans to take his own life.
