ON SALE: The Park Avenue Garage Spring Sale, which opened Wednesday to the public, had a private cocktail preview on Tuesday at its 56th Street location. Guests were welcomed into the steaming three-floor space with upbeat music and summery cocktails as they browsed the vast collection of goods, ranging from chinaware to evening gowns. Tuesday night’s main attraction was the launch of Ann Dexter-Jones’ fine jewelry line, Ann Dexter-Jones Design, a collection of edgy, albeit polished, pieces. Christie Brinkley was mesmerized by a pearl necklace with bright colored chains. “Those are the kinds of things you just want to pile on,” she said as she admired the rest of the collection, later being joined by Brooke Shields.
Dexter-Jones eagerly showed off her wares, especially the faux timepieces, which she wore herself. “I listen to music,” she said on her inspiration for the designs. “I’m a lyric person and I heard ‘In the Midnight Hour’ and I went, ‘Oh my god, I have to do a homage to Wilson Pickett!’”
Proceeds of the sale benefit the Couture Council and its support of The Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology.a
