House Speaker Nancy Pelosi mocked New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and her “Squad” of progressive allies, according to a soon-to-be-released biography.
In the book, Pelosi gives ‘the Squad’ blunt advice: ‘You’re not a one-person show. This is the Congress of the United States.’
According to a preview in Axios, Pelosi took on the voice of a child while speaking about the 31-year-old self-declared socialist, who has caused trouble for the powerful 81-year-old speaker after taking office in 2019.
Susan Page, USA Today’s Washington bureau chief, spoke to Pelosi 10 times for the biography. In their second sit-down, which occurred in July 2019, Page said Pelosi’s dispute with ‘the Squad’ had ‘exploded.’
‘Her anger at the four new progressive congresswomen was palpable,’ Page recalled.
The book, called “Madam Speaker: Nancy Pelosi and the Lessons of Power,” is scheduled for release later this month.
It is based on more than 150 exclusive interviews, as well as in-depth interviews with the speaker herself, according to a description of the book on Amazon.
