Prince Philip has dedicated seven decades of his life to perform royal duties as the husband of Queen Elizabeth II. Now, after Prince Harry stepped back from his royal roles, his grandfather is struggling to accept his decision.
Prince Philip’s thoughts about Prince Harry’s Megxit
Royal biographer Ingrid Seward is about to release a book about Prince Philip, titled Prince Philip Revealed. Here, she details the Duke of Edinburgh’s thoughts about Prince Harry’s infamous Megxit.
“It grieves Philip that many younger members of the royal family do not appear to share his values,” an excerpt published by the Daily Mail. “He has struggled greatly, for example, with what he sees as his grandson Harry’s dereliction of duty.”
For him, his grandson gave up his homeland and everything he cared for a life with Meghan Markle in North America. The book described the former actress as a “self-centered celebrity.”
Seward continued the 99-year-old royal found it hard to fathom what made Prince Harry’s “life so unbearable” in the United Kingdom that he had to move to California with his family.
“As far as Philip was concerned, Harry and Meghan had everything going for them,” the book read.
They had a beautiful Frogmore cottage, a healthy son, Archie, and a “unique opportunity to make a global impact” through their charity works.
Seward continued that it has been Prince Philip’s lifelong dedication to do the right thing. So, he believes the Duke of Sussex has left his royal responsibilities for his marriage.
He called Meghan as an American divorcee. He then compared Prince Harry to Edward VIII, who gave up the crown to marry Wallis Simpson in 1937.
Prince Harry, Meghan’s life post-royal exit
Prince Harry and Meghan left the monarchy in March after they officially finished their royal duties.
They first moved to Canada before they relocated to California, initially living in Tyler Perry’s mansion. A little later, they bought their first home together, worth $14.7 million, in Montecito, Us Weekly noted.
Their wish to be financially independent also came true after the Sussexes finally paid the $3.1 million taxpayers’ money to renovate their Frogmore home.
Since moving to California, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been too busy. They recently crafted a deal with Netflix to produce films, docuseries, documentaries, scripted shows, and children programs.
