In fact, there is a new report that suggests Prince Philip is the most disappointed with Meghan Markle for her failure to support the British monarchy. Here’s what you need to know.
According to the royal biographer Ingrid Seward, the Duke of Edinburgh gave up his naval career in order to support Queen Elizabeth when she ascended the throne in 1952.
While Meghan Markle did give up her Hollywood career when she married Prince Harry, the couple took a huge step backwards with ‘Megxit’ and Meghan’s need to be back in the spotlight, but apparently on her own terms, and not that of the royal family.
For Prince Philip, he can’t understand why Meghan Markle did not realize that once you marry into the royal family, life as you know it will never be the same again.
Seward told Sky News in an interview, “I think he’s very, very disappointed because I think he feels he gave up his naval career in order to stand by the Queen and help the monarchy.
And why can’t Meghan just give up her acting career, support her husband and support the monarchy? As he used to say to Princess Diana, this is not a popularity contest, this is all of us working together.”
“He just cannot understand why she couldn’t support Harry and help him rather than wanting to have her voice,” Seward added.
As many royal fans remember, Prince Philip opted out of the Sandringham Summit when Prince Harry met with Prince Charles, Prince William and Queen Elizabeth to go over his exit from the royal family. Both Harry and Meghan stepped down from their roles as full-time working members of the royal family on March 31.
