Appearing alongside comedy legend Stephen Fry – via Zoom, of course – the future king took part in a quick sketch to raise money to help fight coronavirus in the UK.
The Prince’s quips and candid comments during the brief cameo sent the internet, naturally, into hysterics.
Posted to the official KensingtonRoyal Instagram page, the sketch begins with the pair connecting in the standard virtual fashion of our times, with William struggling with connectivity issues, much to the bemusement of Fry.
“Even five-year-olds have mastered Zoom,” Fry snarks, as William rejoins him on the call.
When William complains about home-schooling his three children, describing it as “a bit of a nightmare, really”, Fry offers his help. The prince questions his skills in various subjects, echoing the universal struggles of parents stuck dealing with curriculums during isolation.
The Duke shifts onto another stock-standard coronavirus conversation topic, asking whether Fry has “seen anything good on TV?”
“It’s hell without EastEnders,” he adds.
Fry responds by suggesting the Netflix series that’s become a global marvel during the pandemic.
“They tell me Tiger King is rather good?” he replies.
“I tend to avoid shows about royalty,” Prince William quips.
The video, which has since been viewed over 1.2 million times on the Cambridges’ official instagram, garnered the support of users across the UK, labelling the Prince a “good sport” for his participation.
“Hilarious. Prince William is so sweet and he doesn’t seem to know,” wrote one user.
“I love to see Prince William let loose for a joke or two,” said another.
The Prince capped his brief cameo by leaving little to the imagination, as he suggested he hadn’t been wearing pants the entire time.
“Let me see if I can find my socks… and my shoes… and my trousers,” he says.
The video was aired on TV ahead of the weekly 8pm “Clap for Carers”, which sees the UK unite each Thursday to applaud the efforts of healthcare workers on the frontlines of coronavirus.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, along with their children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis have been active participants in the campaign, posting videos of them clapping along for key workers tirelessly striving to contain the deadly virus.
Prince William and Kate have shown a united front during the COVID-19 outbreak, personally visiting and thanking NHS workers on the frontlines.
The Queen also performed a stunning act of solidarity by turning Windsor Castle, where she currently resides in self-isolation, completely blue in support of healthcare workers across the UK.
