Princess Beatrice Reportedly Changed Her Wedding Date Twice

Princess Beatrice’s upcoming wedding was reportedly pushed back twice, due to the recent scandal surrounding her father Prince Andrew.

The Duke of York stepped back from his royal duties in November, amid the fallout from his ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein—and per People, his daughter’s wedding plans have changed significantly as a result.

“The date was changed two times to adjust [around Andrew’s scandal],” a source told People. Princess Beatrice’s wedding to Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi is now scheduled to take place at St James’s Palace in London on May 29, and the source revealed that the ceremony will be “smaller than the original plan.”

The couple will not have a carriage procession, “in keeping with their wishes for a more low-key” affair. The ceremony will be followed by a private reception hosted by the Queen, in the grounds of Buckingham Palace.

After months of intensifying scrutiny following Epstein’s suicide last August, Prince Andrew recorded a disastrous interview at Buckingham Palace to address his relationships with Epstein and his alleged contact with Virginia Roberts, who has stated that she had sex with the prince while she was 17 and a victim of sex trafficking by Epstein. Prince Andrew has vigorously denied this accusation.

Though Andrew skipped Beatrice’s engagement party in December, which fell shortly after his poorly received interview, he will reportedly attend the wedding and walk his daughter down the aisle.

“Andrew will probably give a toast at the reception like any father of the bride,” People‘s source said. “They will try to normalize this as much as possible.”
