Princess Beatrice makes her first appearance since postponing wedding

Princess Beatrice has made her first appearance since postponing her wedding which was due to take place in May.

It was officially announced last week that Princess Beatrice was to cancel her wedding to Eduardo Mapelli Mozzi.

The couple who have been engaged since 2016, was due to marry on 29 May, but unfortunately now have to postpone their nuptials in accordance with lockdown restrictions.

Engaged after a weekend trip to Italy in 2018, the couple was due to be walking down the aisle at St. James’ cathedral next month.

Instead, like many other brides, the two have been forced to postpone their celebrations until restrictions have been lifted.

Making her first appearance since the announcement, Princess Beatrice made a video supporting the Helen Arkell Dyslexia charity, of which she is a patron.

In it she spoke of the ‘incredibly challenging times’ as she shared a message of support.

In the clip, which was shared with the organisation’s Twitter account, Princess Beatrice of York urges people to get in contact with the charity should they need help supporting friends and family with dyslexia.

The Princess, who was diagnosed with dyslexia aged 7, has been a patron of the Helen Arkell charity since 2013, and has openly shared and written about her struggles while at school.

She has also spoken of how the support of her parents and the magic of storytelling, helped her to eventually love reading.

With schools being taught remotely, it is difficult at the moment for children who need extra support to get the attention they need to learn and stay focused.

In her video, Princess Beatrice reminds us that the charity remains open for business as usual to support patrons.

‘Yes they are doing things online at the moment rather than face to face, but their incredible team of specialists is here to help whenever you need them.’

‘Whether that is online courses, tuition sessions, or their online helpline, please get in touch.’

‘I would encourage you to look at their website and see what is available to you.’

Fortunately, for now Princess Beatrice has been throwing herself into her humanitarian work to keep her mind occupied and off the wedding blues.

She has joined her sister Eugenie and mum Fergie on a series of emergency runs to London hospitals to provide essentials to frontline staff.

Not only that but her mum has been delighting audiences on her new YouTube channel where she has been reading much-loved children’s story books. That must be where Beatrice’s love of stories started.
