Queen Elizabeth urges people to play their ‘vitally important’ part during ‘period of great concern’

Queen Elizabeth has shared a sweet message of solidarity during what she has described as a ‘period of great concern and uncertainty.’

The senior royal issued an official statement to show her support in the midst of the global health pandemic which has halted life as we know it and forced people around the world to adopt a ‘new normal.’

The British monarch is encouraging people to change their ‘normal routines and regular patterns of life for the greater good of the communities we live in’ and help protect the most vulnerable people in society.

The 93-year-old has also expressed her gratitude to the many people on the frontline adding that the royal family are ‘enormously thankful for the expertise and commitments’ of scientists, medical practitioners and emergency and public services at this time.

As safety measures are taken up a notch in the UK, the Queen reminded people of their ‘vitally important part’ to play in society over the coming days, weeks and months.

‘Many of us will need to find new ways of staying in touch with each other and making sure that loved ones are safe,’ she said.

‘I am certain we are up to that challenge. You can be assured that my family and I stand ready to play our part.’

While until now the royals have been busy honouring their official schedules – William and Kate visited Dublin just this month – the family are now taking a conscious step back from public duties as events are cancelled and/or postponed.

On Thursday it was announced that Prince Harry has cancelled the 2020 Invictus Games while many monumental royal-led events continue to hang on the line including the annual Trooping the Colour which brings out huge crowds every year.
