New Idea published the misleading headline about the exes this week. But their story on Reese Witherspoon and Phillippe are just about the A-listers reuniting for their son Deacon’s 17th birthday.
To say that Witherspoon and Phillippe are back together is very different from the truth that the exes reunited for their son’s special day.
“It’s wonderful to see them enjoying each other’s company. There was a time when she couldn’t be in the same room as him, so this is pretty huge,” a source said.
The insider also claimed that Witherspoon and Phillippe’s reunion came on the heels of the actress’s ongoing marital problems with Jim Toth.
Witherspoon and Toth’s marriage has, allegedly, been on the rocks for quite some time. And they were also likened to ships passing in the night but only if they’re in the same house.
“The failure of Jim’s big investment, the streaming service Quibi, which shut down after just six months, hasn’t helped things either. Jim invested everything in it and he’s lost it all – Jim’s worth zero now, which means Reese could be looking at paying him alimony and child support if they decided to get a divorce,” the source said.
But Woman’s Day published an entirely different story about Reese Witherspoon and Phillippe. According to the tabloid, Witherspoon cut Phillippe off along time ago due to his notorious behavior.
The actor, allegedly, likes hanging out with women close to his daughter Ava’s age, and the latter dislikes her dad for it.
“Ava is a very level-headed young woman and she is absolutely not interested in spending time with Ryan if he chooses to behave this way. She feels sorry for him, but she had made it clear she would be a lot happier if he would act his age,” the source said.
The insider also claimed that Ava has had a rift with her dad for years now. And Witherspoon is devastated because it has, allegedly, been a struggle for her kids and Phillippe to be in the same room together.
“Her kids are her world, which is why she’s maintained a close relationship with Ryan regardless of what he gets up to in his own time,” the source said.
However, one should take the tabloid’s claims with a grain of salt. Reese Witherspoon and Toth aren’t divorcing. And the actress didn’t get back together with Phillippe. The actor isn’t also at odds with his kids.
