‘I like presidents who sleep at night’: Top Republican compares the energy levels of Trump, Biden—it backfired

Donald Trump’s new ‘From the Desk of…’ website CRASHES after he shared latest claim that Arizona election result was rigged by voter fraud

Critics allege that Trump’s energy was due to Adderall, causing the prescription drug to trend on Twitter.

Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) stirred widespread debate on Twitter over the weekend after arguing that former President Donald Trump’s energy levels were superior to those of the current commander-in-chief.

While speaking with Fox News host Sean Hannity on Friday, McCarthy began defending Trump’s sleep schedule in comparison to President Joe Biden’s.

“But at no time, having known Joe Biden for quite some time, does he have the energy levels of Donald Trump,” McCarthy tweeted. “We both know it. Donald Trump didn’t need to sleep five hours a night.”

Twitter users, always eager to jump to the defense of politicians, began fighting over which geriatric leader was more actually energetic.

Supporters of Biden noted that Trump’s alleged lack of sleep was not a positive attribute, even spurring the term “Adderall” to trend on the platform as a result.

Critics have long accused Trump of abusing the prescription drug, although no concrete evidence has proven the claim to be true.

“I like presidents who sleep at night,” author John Pavlovitz wrote. “They tend to be lucid during the day, get stuff done, have healthy relationships, and aren’t Adderall-addled maniacs.”

Others argued that even if Trump only slept a few hours per night, his days in the White House were still spent wasted on Twitter.

“Yep, no one can watch cable news, rage tweet, and play golf with the energy of Donald Trump,” another user added. “He worked so hard for the American people.”

But some users simply asked: Who really cares?

“Can we just talk about what a weird fucking flex ‘Donald can go to bed at 3am’ is?” journalist Brian Tyler Cohen said.

Trump supporters, however, can still be seen across the platform praising the former president for being a tireless and “stable genius.”

“He never stopped. He has the energy of a 30 year old man,” @MsAvaArmstrong said. “And yes, he’s a stable genius. I will always love President Trump!”

The interview with McCarthy, which also included Rep. Steve Scalise (R-La.) and Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.), came after the legislator met with the Biden administration for the first time.
