The couple shares two children, Savannah, 9, and Isla, 7. The Sun notes that Peter, the son of Princess Anne, and Autumn have been married for 12 years. Peter works as a marketing consultant and met Autumn, also a consultant, at the Formula One Grand Prix in Montreal, Canada, her hometown.
They were married in 2008. According to People, “at the time of his birth, Peter was fifth in line to the throne.” Now that a few more royals have been born, Peter is 15th in the line of succession.
While Peter and Autumn do not hold royal titles — and are not considered working royals. The queen did offer them honorary titles, which Princess Anne declined, so her children, Peter Phillips and Zara Tindall, grew up without titles.
Their father, Captain Mark Phillips, was a commoner when he married Princess Anne and also turned down a title from the queen.
“I’m very lucky that both my parents decided to not use the title and we grew up and did all the things that gave us the opportunity to do,” Zara told The Times in 2015.
Savannah and Isla are very close to their royal cousins, Prince George and Princess Charlotte. Back in 2018, Savannah became a viral sensation when she covered George’s mouth during that year’s Trooping of the Colour.
Buckingham Palace has not made an official statement about the separation.
