Selena Gomez is set to embark on a world tour this summer. The 20-year-old pop singer bounced back onto the music scene at the MTV Movie Awards with her new single ‘Come & Get It’ and shortly after the Bollywood-themed performance, Selena announced she will be touring 56 cities later this year.
Speaking to Ryan Seacrest, she said: ”It’s going to be a bigger show. I’m excited. I’ve been dancing a lot and I just want to entertain people and I’m super stoked.” Selena looks to Britney Spears and Janet Jackson for inspiration, but hopes her tour will be purely about performing rather than fancy stage tricks.
She said: ”I kind of miss shows when it just used to be about the dancing and the performing as opposed to how big and elaborate the stage is. So I kind of want to get back to that.
”My favourites were Britney [Spears] and Janet Jackson. So I kind of want to do a little bit more dancing, and just make it about the entertainment and about the show and the songs, as opposed to how big the stage or how many effects we can have.” The tour is set to promote her summer album and will kick off in Vancouver and finish in St Louis, with brief stops in Europe and North America.
