Gomez, famously part of Swift’s girl squad, took to Twitter to slam celebrities airing their trivial disagreements on social media, an oblique reference to Kim Kardashian West leaking video of West discussing the lyrics to the controversial song "Famous" with Swift. When Twitter user @prasejeebus asked Gomez why she or Swift hadn’t made any comments about Black Lives Matter or police brutality, she pithily responded "so that means if I hashtag something I save lives?" before adding that the user didn’t know what she did.
Chloe Moretz, who had her own feud with Kardashian West, also vented her frustration at the trivial obsessions of people in the entertainment industry.
