The “Rare” singer admitted that when they shared their first kiss, she was in love with Dylan’s twin brother, Cole Sprouse. Gomez shared that after revisiting her childhood home recently, she was reminded of a note she had written in her old closet—that she was in love with Cole Sprouse.
She was so madly in love with Cole that she actually hoped they would be together someday. “I had written in the closet that I was in love with Cole Sprouse,” said Gomez. “Cole Sprouse was on ‘The Suite Life of Zack & Cody.’ I was obsessed with that show, and I thought we were gonna be together one day,” she added.
Unfortunately, it looks like she and Cole were not meant to be. In the 2006 episode of “The Suite Life of Zack & Cody,” Gomez was thrilled to have had the chance to guest star on the show but it turned out she would be paired alongside Dylan, not Cole.
In the episode titled “A Midsummer’s Nightmare,” Gomez appeared as Gwen, Cole’s classmate. While the role made Gomez’s heart skip a beat, the script required her to kiss Dylan instead of Cole.
Gomez revealed it was her first on-camera kiss so it would have been a lot better if it were Cole. “It was my first kiss—and on-camera! she said. “I kissed his brother and I didn’t get to kiss Cole! It was one of the worst days of my life!” she added.
In a previous issue of Twist Magazine, Selena Gomez opened up about the kiss and why it ended up being “the most awkward kiss in the world.” “I actually leaned in to kiss him, and I had my eyes closed a little too early and I ended up missing, like, half of his lips.
So it ended up being the most awkward kiss in the world. I was 12, so it was okay and it was good. Thank goodness he is such an awesome guy!” she shared.
