Mary McCormack allegedly wants out of her longtime marriage to "Smash" director Michael Morris. Photos of Morris kissing the star of his former NBC show, Katharine McPhee, surfaced earlier in the week, implying the two, who are both still married to other people, have been carrying on a romantic relationship.
McCormack, 44, and Morris have "been together for more than 10 years and always had such a solid marriage," an insider told Life & Style magazine. "They have three daughters, so it’s incredibly sad. He wants to keep the family together, but as far as Mary is concerned, it’s over. There’s no going back."
"Mary only found out this week about the affair after he confessed everything to her," the source explained. "She had no idea anything had been going on. The last thing she ever thought was that he was seeing another woman."
The couple wed in 2003 and share three daughters between the ages of 2 and 9. "She is beyond furious and is absolutely devastated. So is Michael. He really wants to make it work between them and try and save the marriage," the insider added. "But at the moment, Mary wants to split up with him."
The mag previously reported that McPhee, 29, and her producer husband Nick Cokas, 47, who wed in 2008, had "been separated for six months" before she began seeing Morris.
TMZ was the first to obtain the photos of the “Smash” stars caught in a lip lock and also reported that the "American Idol" alum and Cokas have indeed been separated for six months and are living apart. "Only time will tell if Michael and Mary can make things work and get over this." The source added to Life & Style. "He loves Mary and is so sorry about what he’s done."
