Stefano Pilati has joined Italian fashion house Ermenegildo Zegna. The former Yves Saint Laurent creative director has been enlisted to help refresh the brand’s menswear line, as well as its secondary womenswear franchise – Agnona.

According a spokesperson for the fashion house, Pilati will start his new roles on January 1. The designer will act as head of design at Ermenegildo Zegna – overseeing the brand’s annual catwalk show – and creative director at Agnona. He will also act as head of design for Zegna’s Couture collection.

"I’m thrilled to have Stefano in our group as he brings great talent, invaluable experience and enormous enthusiasm," said Gildo Zegna, chief executive officer of the Zegna Group. "We have ambitious plans for Agnona, and we strongly believe that under his creative leadership we will be able to develop this little jewel into a global brand." It is believed that Pilati’s debut Ermenegildo Zegna collection will show in June next year, coinciding with the launch of his first cruise line for Agnona.

Pilati and Zegna have a history together, as the latter has previously produced several menswear pieces for Yves Saint Laurent – for which the designer acted as creative director for eight years.- Vogue
