The Weeknd’s song inspired by Selena Gomez may not be happening at all; Here’s Why

The Weeknd has been releasing some great new music. However, speculations were rife last week that he had registered a song title called ‘Like Selena.’

Almost a week after Selenators went into an overdrive thinking that her ex-flame The Weeknd would be dropping new music about her, turns out it was just a false alarm. The Weeknd is back with a bang and has been releasing some great new music. However, speculations were rife last week that The Weeknd had registered a song title called ‘Like Selena.’  The ASCAP (the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) website page was proof that the title was registered under The Weeknd’s actual name Abel Tesfaye.

Well, looks like these rumours were true to a certain extent, as many websites reported on 2 December that the ASCAP website has now officially taken down the page. The earlier posting cited The Weeknd aka Abel as the writer and performer of ‘Like Selena’.

For the unversed, The Weeknd and Selena started dating in January 2017, however, they parted by October of the same year. He soon went on to reconcile with his former flame Bella Hadid but the two have been on and off since then. Whereas, Selena recently sparked dating rumours with One Direction’s Niall Horan.

On the professional front, Selena gave an epic performance at the American Music Awards. The singer has released a slew of new songs in the past few weeks which have gone on to become massive hits. Her song ‘Lose You To Love Me’ which has Justin Bieber written all over it climbed to the number one spot on Billboard Hot 100. She also crooned the song on the AMAs stage and made her fans go gaga.
