“When I was president, our southern border was in great shape — stronger, safer, and more secure than ever before. We ended Catch-and-Release, shut down asylum fraud, and crippled the vicious smugglers, drug dealers, and human traffickers,” Trump said in a statement on Tuesday.
He added, “The wall, despite horrendous Democratic delays, would have easily been finished by now, and is working magnificently. Our country is being destroyed at the Southern border, a terrible thing to see!”

Fox News reported on Tuesday that U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is shutting down three highway checkpoints in Arizona as the agency is struggling with the influx of migrants at the border.
The Biden administration is also working on a solution to provide housing for unaccompanied minors coming to the United States.
According to documents dated Monday obtained by CNN, more than 3,200 unaccompanied migrant children were in CBP custody. Around 2,600 of those were waiting for placement in shelters.
White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said during her press briefing on Tuesday officials are allowing unaccompanied minors to cross the border because they determined it was the “most humane approach to addressing what are very difficult circumstances in the region.”
She told reporters, “We’re looking at additional facilities where we can safely house children and ensure they have access to all of these resources.”
The former president took a swing at Biden last week for his immigration policy, as IJR reported.
“The spiraling tsunami at the border is overwhelming local communities, depleting budgets, crowding hospitals, and taking jobs from legal American workers,” Trump said in a statement.
He added, “Under Biden, it will soon be worse, more dangerous, and more out of control than ever before. He has violated his oath of office to uphold our Constitution and enforce our laws.”
Psaki stressed during her press briefing on Friday the Biden administration does not take “advice or counsel” from Trump on immigration policy.
