‘The Republican Party Is Stacked’: Trump Speaks On Who Is the GOP’s Future

Former President Donald Trump gave an upbeat assessment of the Republican Party’s future during an interview with Fox News contributor Lisa Boothe for her debut podcast on iHeart Radio on Monday.

“We have a lot of young, good people,” Trump explained after Boothe asked about the party. “[Florida Gov.] Ron DeSantis is doing a really good job in Florida. I think [Missouri Sen.] Josh Hawley has shown some real courage in going after big tech.”

“And you know somebody that’s been really terrific is Ted Cruz … And [Kentucky Sen.] Rand Paul has been great. A lot of people, I mean, really a lot of people have been terrific. [Former White House press secretary] Sarah Huckabee is going to do great in Arkansas. I think that [South Dakota Gov.] Kristi Noem has done a terrific job. A lot of – a lot of very good people, really very good people. The Republican party is stacked,” he added.

He went on to say his endorsements have helped several Republican candidates already, including newly-elected Rep. Julia Letlow of Louisiana who just won a special election after her husband, who won the seat in November, died suddenly in December.

CNN added:

A number of prominent Republicans rallied behind her after she announced her campaign for the seat. Former President Donald Trump, House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy and Louisiana GOP Rep. Steve Scalise — the No. 2 House Republican — all endorsed her out of the nine Republicans running for the seat.

Letlow, a first-time candidate, will avoid a runoff because she secured a majority among the 12-person field.

Trump is also targeting RINO Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger by backing a primary challenger, Jodi Hice, following the post-election debacle in that state which included the loss of both U.S. Senate seats, long in the hands of Republicans, in January run-off elections.

“Wow, just heard the good news,” Trump wrote. “one of our most outstanding Congressman, Jody Hice, has announced he is running for Secretary of State in the Great State of Georgia.”

“Jody has been a steadfast fighter for conservative Georgia values and is a staunch ally of the America First agenda,” he said.

“Unlike the current Georgia Secretary of State, Jody leads out front with integrity,” Trump continued. “I have 100% confidence in Jody to fight for Free, Fair and Secure Elections in Georgia, in line with our beloved U.S. Constitution.”

“Jody will stop the Fraud and get honesty into our Elections!” he concluded. “Jody loves the people of Georgia, and has my Complete and Total Endorsement.”

In his interview with Boothe, the former president explained that there are many good Republican candidates to choose from.

“There’s a pretty deep bench,” he told Boothe. “I’ll make that decision sometime later, but there’s a pretty deep bench. If you look at the polls, they love the job that I’ve done.”

Trump has been coy about whether he will throw his hat into the GOP field again to run for a second term in 2024, and no doubt a lot of prospective Republican presidential contenders are waiting to see what he’s going to do.

But what’s clear from polling is that the Republican Party is his for the taking and he’s certainly making the most of the opportunity to reshape in his “MAGA” mold.
