The former host of “The Wendy Williams Show,” 58, canceled her $25,000 appearance at the Atlanta Women’s Expo, which was scheduled for the weekend, according to reports from the US Sun.
A representative for the expo confirmed that a video message from Wendy would be played during the event, offering an apology for the last-minute cancellation. The decision came after doubts arose about Wendy’s well-being and her ability to perform at the expo. There were reportedly some who were pushing for her to attend the event despite concerns.
Sources revealed that Wendy’s ability to consistently perform has been unstable, with fluctuations in her ability to articulate. Recent doubts have surfaced regarding her prospects for recovery.
The Atlanta Women‘s Expo website has removed all promotional content featuring Wendy. However, an Instagram post from April 6 indicated that she was originally scheduled to speak on Saturday at 1 p.m.
Wendy’s family and friends have previously expressed concerns about her overall health following the conclusion of her talk show. In addition to her ongoing battle with Grave’s disease, an autoimmune disorder affecting the thyroid, Wendy has also exhibited erratic behavior.
Last August, her brother Tommy described her appearances and interviews as “really sad” after she made bizarre claims during a phone conversation about getting married to an NYPD cop. He acknowledged the precariousness of her situation, emphasizing that her behavior was uncharacteristic.
Furthermore, Wendy has been confronting substance abuse issues. In September 2022, Page Six reported that she had checked back into rehab. After completing a two-month program, she returned home and expressed feeling “better than ever.”
Wendy is currently involved in various projects, including a new podcast. In March, she was observed consuming alcohol again, despite her previous stint in rehab. Her representative stated that it was a celebration of her “new lease on life.”
