According to The Sun, the new series will be titled ‘Being Me: Diana’ and will depict the Princess’ mental health battles, marriage to Prince Charles and painful childhood. The TV company who made 127 hours and ITV’s Torvill and Dean, DSP, has reportedly started creating this controversial documentary.
DSP claims the project has not yet been commissioned by Netflix, says The Sun. The Diana series will allegedly use unseen footage from the Princess’ speeches in 1990-92 and interviews with people close to her just before she and Charles split. A TV source told the Sun: “The royals will refuse to take part as will the Spencer family.
“It’s particularly distressing for Harry because he’s been working with Netflix.” The source continued: “At a time when the royals have been dealt a blow with Harry and Meghan leaving, the timing is not good.” A spokesperson for Endemol Shine, the parent company for DSP, told The Sun: “This is not a commissioned show and everything within the treatment is already in the public domain.” Prince Harry has already worked with Netflix on the Thomas the Tank Engine 75th anniversary special.
The Duke of Sussex introduced the episode that also featured the Queen and Prince Charles as a young boy. The special royal episode saw Thomas the Tank Engine travel to London for the first time. Thomas took Sir Topham Hatt – also known as the Fat Controller – to receive a special honour at Buckingham Palace. Prince Harry recorded the introduction in January and told the BBC he grew up reading Thomas the Tank Engine stories.
He said: “Thomas the Tank Engine has been a comforting, familiar face to so many families over the last 75 years. “Entertaining, educating and inspiring children on important issues though exciting stories and characters.” Prince Harry is currently living in LA with his wife Meghan Markle. The couple moved there before lockdown restrictions took over the country due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
On Saturday, Prince Harry made a surprise appearance on Instagram to offer an update on the 2020 Invictus Games. The sports event was originally scheduled to take place this week in The Hague in the Netherlands, but it was postponed due to the coronavirus crisis. Harry said in the video: “The new dates will be shared with you very soon.
“I hope all of those in the Invictus family are coping well and supporting each other through this challenging time.” He added: “Although we can’t be together in person, I’m really happy that there are plenty of virtual activities planned for this week.“And I encourage you all to get involved, if you can, because you never know it might be fun, and unchanged from the norm.”
