This is done, apparently, through one-on-one Zoom calls between the Duke of Cambridge and his “gone rogue” younger sibling. Of course, there is nothing truly formal about these calls from Prince William, but some believe the motive behind them is far more about control than simple brotherly love and concern.
Now, why would some fans of the British Royal family come to a conclusion like this? After all, aren’t Prince William and Prince Harry good friends? Certainly, there were rumors of a severe distancing between Harry and William over the course of 2019 following Harry’s decision to marry the American actress, Meghan Markle in 2018.
However, that time has apparently passed and there has been a significant thawing in the relations between Prince William and Prince Harry. So, why would Prince Harry need to check up on Harry? Why can’t these Zoom calls between Harry and William simply be two brothers having casual conversations about life and the universe? Well, according to some … there are a plethora of reasons that William may need to be sure of what’s going on in Harry’s life and where Harry stands on various issues.
Here are some of them: The very first reason could be that William simply worries about Harry. After all, following the death of Princess Diana, these brothers shared a great deal of grief. As the older of the two, Prince William may have felt that it was his responsibility to take care of Harry. These Zoom calls may simply be William’s way of showing Harry that he cares.
That’s especially true now, considering the political climate in the United States and the turmoil that has afflicted the nation following the death of George Floyd, an African American, at the hands of a white police officer. William may believe that Los Angeles, with its history of racial riots, may not be the safest place for Prince Harry, Meghan, and little Archie.
Another reason that William may be keeping tabs on his brother and his family could be due to the fact that Queen Elizabeth II’s rule may soon be over. The sentiment in the U.K. is that the young people would rather the crown skip Prince Charles altogether and jump directly to the head of Prince William.
Whether that happens or not, Prince William certainly remembers the fact that when he and Harry were younger, William routinely declared that he didn’t want to be king. At the exact same time, Harry would rejoin that if William didn’t want the job, he would take it.
This history could be on William’s mind now, as he appears to have accepted the responsibility of becoming the monarch. If Harry still likes the idea of wearing the crown, despite the fact that he’s in America … well, the rebel who would be king is, therefore, a bit of a competitor for William, isn’t he? At least, that’s how Harry would be viewed in days of yore.
William’s calls to Harry may be innocent, or they could be paranoid attempts to assure himself of where his brother’s head is at. In other words, Prince William’s calls are all about subtle intelligence gathering.
The bottom line though is that all the conspiracy theory paranoia concerning Prince William and Prince Harry’s relationship is likely to complete rubbish. Fans of the Royals ought to simply be glad that Harry and William are keeping up with each other … you know … as normal families do.
