Nearly a year has passed since the Sussexes left for the United States. The end of their review will end on March 31. But, weeks ahead of the date, Queen Elizabeth, as well as the rest of the royal officials, has already publicized their decision about Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.
While many expected things to go well down the road, sources said that tension has persisted. This comes after the Duke of Cambridge got “upset” over the Sussexes’ response, according to People.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle pushed back
The reports first came from The Sunday Times after unnamed insiders revealed that Prince William is “sad and genuinely shocked.” As explained, the future King felt all the disappointments upon learning Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s response to Queen Elizabeth.
Following Buckingham Palace’s official statement, the Sussex couple reportedly “pushed back” with their own announcement, saying that “service is universal” and that everyone “can all live a life of service.”
The source, who claims to have close ties with the Duke of Cambridge, added that the royal has become “very upset” about the whole situation. He also allegedly found the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s behavior “insulting and disrespectful” because no one talks back to the Queen.
Buckingham Palace confirmed Sussexes’ official exit
On Friday, Buckingham Palace confirmed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle would no longer return to their royal roles. As part of their official exit, the couple’s honorary military titles and patronages will revert to Queen Elizabeth.
Reports claimed that the Sussex pair’s shocking response seemingly referenced a line from the Palace’s announcement. As stated, “it is not possible to continue with responsibilities and duties that come with a life of public service.”
The Duke and Duchess’s office noted, as well, that they will “remain committed to their duty and service” to the United Kingdom. They have also offered their “continued support” to the organizations “regardless of official role.”
Prince William wants to move forward
As the debacle continues to develop, other sources have different assertions about the royal siblings. The Daily Express reported that the Duke of Cambridge is now ready to move forward and “work on purely family matters.”
Sources told The Telegraph that Prince William wants to “mend his relationship” with Prince Harry. They reportedly shared everything with each other growing up, adding that he will miss it.
