It must be said that Burberry spared no detail for last night’s epic London in Los Angeles Show. Though the brand calls London its home base, it’s easy to see why Burberry and Christopher Bailey traveled across land and sea, choosing the location of Griffith Observatory for their first-ever runway show in L.A. on Thursday evening. Upon arrival atop Griffith Park, custom-made British park gates greeted guests, and inside, a string quartet played classical music in a perfectly manicured English garden with massive hedges and flowers in full bloom. Just before the show began, guests including Brits Cara Delevingne, James Corden (who would later become a runway star in his own right, eventually closing down the show on the heels of supermodel, Naomi Campbell), and the entire Beckham clan were treated to a dramatic southern California sunset (yes, the show’s start was perfectly timed with the setting sky).

Burberry sent down its all 2015 collection as well as L.A. runway exclusives available for purchase at the Rodeo Drive store. The show embodied both the brand’s storied English heritage and colorful California ease. Familiar faces taking in the spectacle and live music included Suki Waterhouse, Elton John, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, January Jones, Aaron Paul, Matthew Bellamy, Mila Kunis, and Instagram’s Kevin Systrom.

As the show neared its final moments, the First Battalion Grenadier Guards, paying full homage to the brand’s British heritage, marched down the runway, and guests were invited to gather in front of the illuminated Griffith Observatory to watch a light celebration of stars and projections against the iconic L.A. building’s facade. Of course the evening didn’t end there, the crowd moved under the clear night sky to an after-party, or in Burberry’s perfectly created L.A. world, a garden party.
